A compelling articulation of something I think I already knew, but hadn't ever quite put into words: people inherently like, and are thus influenced by, those who listen well, and also share selectively, creating rapport. What's fascinating about the influential component is that these people aren't persuasive in the classic sense--most of the time people don't even know they're being influenced.
